Our Arrival

We thought we would start a blog so all family & friends near and far can keep up to date on Shea & Wes.    Shea and Wes made their debut into the world on 10-1-10.  They were a little early being born at 33 weeks 4 days.  At our 24 week appointment our OB - Dr. Martin noticed a weight difference between Shea and Wes that was more than they typically like to see.  He referred us to a Perinatologist - Dr. Hamill.  We started off with biweekly appointments to monitor their growth  It was reassuring to see them every two weeks on high tech ultrasounds.  At our 30 week appointment they also noticed that Shea had abnormal blood flow, so we then began weekly appointments.  Weights also began to get further apart.  At our 32 week appointment my blood pressure was high and they began to think that I was developing pre-eclampsia, so on my birthday - I was admitted to test and they administered steroid  shots to help mature Shea and Wes's lungs.  I was just under having pre-eclampsia so they sent me home on bed rest and then we repeated all tests a week later.  At that time I was admitted for pre-eclampsia.  They decide that we were going to have the babies on Friday 10-1-10.  So at 7:30 p.m. they wheeled us into the operating room and at 7:49 Wesley Allen Turner made his debut weighing 6 lbs and measuring 19.5 inches and Shea Alexis Turner followed at 7:50 weighing 3 lbs 4 oz. and measuring 17.5 inches.  Both babies were able to breath on their own and were admitted to the NICU.
