10-8-10

We were given a picture from the nurses of the two together.  The night nurses take pics and put together scrapbooks for the NICU.  Our day nurse gave us a copy and it is by far our favorite pic so far :)   It captures their personalities so well - Wes is very easy going and Shea is very alert and always moving around!!  He also looks like a very protective big brother in those pose (even if it is only by 1 minute).

Shea's favorite pose

Today our babies are one week old (and would have been 34 weeks 4 days today).  What a week it has been.  We feel very blessed at how well our little ones are doing - they are so strong.   Surprisingly spending all our time at the hospital during the day and then being home at night has become a pretty routine schedule.  Rob & I were talking today and can't imagine having only one.  It is so nice that we can both hold one at the same time, change diapers, do temps, etc.  Having never had just one, it just seems odd to thing about what it would be like with just one.  We feel very blessed that we have twins.  Marc and Mike from my work stopped by to see Wes & Shea. It is always nice to have visitors and we enjoy showing them off.

They continue to have their feedings increased and should be to full feedings tomorrow!!  Wes will be just under 2 oz's per feeding and Shea will be just over 1 oz per feeding.  Shea did have a rough day today with her increased feedings - She spit up 3 times and went thru 4 outfits.  They are going to try and spread her feeding out over a longer period of time (1 hour instead of 30 minutes).  I really hope this helps for her.  They will then adjust their feedings based on their weight. I continue to try to breast feed them at every other feeding as well.  They do great when they are awake and alert.  They still get full feedings though as they are not eating enough yet (just getting the concept down).  I am going to try tandem feeding tomorrow when the lactation coach I really like is back on duty. All and all not bad for 7 days old.

Shea and mom - I think her socks look like little boots on her
