Shea and Wes Turn 3 - October 1st 2013

3 years!!  Yes you read that correctly - where has the time gone - where have my babies gone!!  Everyday I continue to be amazed by something they say or do.  I need to blog everyday to really capture the essence of who they are - but unfortunately life happens and I don't have the time to do that - I will forever be grateful though for a job that allows me to have so much time with them.

She and Wes's birthday party was going to be on 9/28/2013.  Yep I said was going to be!  As always, Wes had other plans for us.  Rob and I went out with Jack and Tricia, Bill and Nancy, Leah & Brian, and Jess and Todd on 9/27 to Celebrate the Tricia and my birthday.  Laura came over to watch Shea and Wes for us.  Wes was running a low fever before we left but otherwise was acting normal.  I gave him some Tylenol and let Laura know that I had given him some.  We had a great time out but on our way home, Laura called and said Wes didn't sound very well.  So when we got home at about 11:30 p.m. and Wes did not sound good - I took him in to the ER.  His fever was again high and he was "weezing".  Wes ended up having Croup.  They gave him an oral steroid and kept us there awhile to get his fever down and said no party the next day and to watch him as the first three nights are usually the worst.  So we had to let everyone know that their party was cancelled.

A 3 year old does not understand the concept of no party.  Fortunately we had gotten their gifts already so we let them open them on Saturday instead of their actual birthday.  Uncle Chris also dropped off presents for them from him and Nana and Poppa.  On Sunday Aunt Laura and the kids stopped by with presents (Shea and Wes's first pets of their own - Bo & Luke their frogs!!).  Grammy also stopped by and brought in a present from the Neola Turner's (Joe, Heather and the boys).  We ate way more cupcakes than we should (as we had ordered 40 for the party) and had Laura take the rest to Football as we could never have eaten all of them.  On Monday Laura came over to watch Wes for me while I took Shea to dance (as he wasn't up yet) and when I returned he was running a fever (which he hadn't done since Friday) - so we went to see Dr. Betsy.  She prescribed 3 days worth of oral steroids for Wes.  They were in pill form and Wes did awesome taking them with nothing else!!

On their actual birthday they did not go to preschool, but we went to the store and they each got to pick out a present (as they had already opened all of theirs) and they were their party hats while Rob and I sang Happy Birthday to them. They ate more cupcakes and overall had a great day.  Next year we will for sure be planning  their party for AFTER their birthday.
